At the risk of stealing the Bacon's thunder... I put up some pictures from the big event today. It was a lot of fun to be able to gather with everyone, including the Bacons.
The few pictures that I took can be seen here:
It is with heavy heart that I write that The Bud is no longer with us. It is definitely strange to not have "the dude" rolling around the house or greeting us at the door. Since the Daily Herald won't let me write an obit for a cat, I figured I would take the opportunity here.

Bud developed diabetes last week and went downhill very quickly. He dropped from 20 or so pounds down to 14. Over the weekend, he pretty much lost all orientation and started walking into walls, etc. It was so hard to see him in such a state. Even though it was the right thing to do, it is still a very strange feeling to put an animal down.

The girls absolutely loved Bud and he was so gentle and kind to them. It is a good thing Ashlyn is so young and doesn't understand what is going on. It is also a good thing that Alia is fixated by Cats the musical. I think it made it somewhat easier when we told her that Buddy was going to heaven just like Grizabella. She didn't like that he was leaving but Grizabella made it a little better. All of us will miss him tremendously (well, except maybe Miyah... our isolationist).
I put up a few of my favorite pictures of him here. You can skip right through them and get to the new ones I put up... which are mostly non-cat related. There are a few photos from Julie's birthday. Also, Jacob, Hallie and the girls built gingerbread houses at the Heaton's tonight. I got a few pictures of the exciting event. I'm just glad I was the photographer and didn't have to get my hands all dirty.
